About the museum:
The museum was founded in 1986, and exhibits items which belonged to Hungarian-speaking Jews before WWII. The founders’ aim was to share and preserve the legacy and culture of Hungarian-speaking Jewry, which was ravaged during WWII.
About the book:
This 150-page book was created in order to expand the museum’s reach to a wider audience. It is also a passion project for those whose life mission is the preservation of Hungarian-speaking Jewish culture, and a gift to those who entrusted the museum with their rare and personal items.
My role in the project:
I took on an integral role in this project between 2020-2022, working closely with the museum director, the book designer, and others involved in this project:
• Edited English translation of the entire manuscript and translated added sections
• Significantly rewrote English text to fit desired book length and layout
• Solved layout, font and text issues with museum director and book designer
• Proofread manuscript and reviewed final proof copy with the designer
• Book was published in 2022
